DagYig Dictionary Software

DagYig is a program I wrote to help with my Tibetan Language studies.
DagYig will scan the windows clipboard for Tibetan or Wylie and will retrieve the definition. It can be used with windows docs, text files, web pages. After selecting a word (or group of words), hit Control C to copy the word onto the clipboard. The definition will appear. You can also cycle through your prior lookups. ACIP support will be included in a future release.

Scanning a Tibetan web page:
Scanning Wylie:

DagYig also contains a dictionary where you can lookup, update, or insert definitions in Tibetan and Wylie. You can type in Tibetan or Wylie.
Typing སངས་རྒྱས་ will retrieve definitions for sangs rgyas and definitions beginning with sangs rgyas.
སངས་རྒྱས་
སངས་རྒྱས་བསྐྱང་
སངས་རྒྱས་བསྐྱངས
སངས་རྒྱས་དཀོན་མཆོག་
etc.
You can sort the list by clicking the headings of the Grid – Tibetan, Dictionary, Wylie. If you have Tibetan properly installed on your pc, you can switch back and forth between Tibetan and English using the language drop down.

You can also search English definitions:
To Update, place your cursor in the row you wish to modify, and click Update Dictionary. To Insert, move to the last row, which will be empty, and insert the new definition in the  Tibetan, Definition, and Wylie columns, and click Update Definition.

You can save font and font sizes for Tibetan and English in the preferences (little red button) form. You can also select a Hot Key for cycling through prior lookups. CTRL ALT and the key you select (example: CTRL ALT x)

There is also a conversion form where you can type in wylie, and convert to Tibetan. In the future I hope to add support for ACIP in the dictionary and the conversion.

Type in Wylie, and click convert.

Firefox has a great little AutoCopy Add On which copies words to the clipboard with a simple select (no CTRL - C necessary)

Windows 7 contains the necessary fonts for using Tibetan on your pc. Please refer to  the "Prepare your pc for Tibetan" tab to set up Tibetan input.
I like Chris Fynn's Jomolhari font which he has kindly made available for free:http://sites.google.com/site/chrisfynn2/fonts/jomolhari

DagYig requires .Net 4 and SqlExpress 2008. If you do not have these programs on your system, it will detect and install them automatically.
DagYig may be uninstalled through the Windows Add Remove Programs in Control Panel.

More information is available in the ReadMe and DagYig Help File.
